Transforming the Conversation

The presentation discusses the stages of change for clients and how difficult it is. Participants will be asked to discuss their daily interactions with clients and determine if they are “nudging” the client to change or putting “sludge” (barriers to change) in the process because the system demands it.

Participants will also see how small changes in our local system have changed outcomes for everyone. The purpose is for participants to self reflect and determine how they can positively change the conversations they have with the clients and resources pertinent to them to benefit the client’s success.

Point-in-Time Volunteer Training

Each year, on a single night, communities across the nation conduct a count of those experiencing homelessness in their community. The 2020 Point-In-Time (PIT) count for Manatee and Sarasota will be conducted for the night of Monday, January 27th.

The survey information collected during the PIT count provides the community, HUD and other organizations like the National Alliance to End Homelessness with a valuable snapshot of data to help analyze community trends for those experiencing homelessness. This can help assist in community planning, increase awareness, and inform funding.
